Japan Relief / Aid / Fundraising Graphics
Monday April 18th, 2011In response to the disaster that struck Japan over a month ago (still ongoing with aftershocks and nuclear issues), people, organizations, and companies around the world have stepped up in all kinds of ways. Each of these fundraisers, relief efforts, and charitable projects have created interesting Japan centric graphics that we’ve collected here:

Bakesale for Japan was a “simultaneous national bakesale hosted at some of our favorite bakeries, restaurants, and other businesses featuring baked goods made by some of the most talented professional and amateur bakers around” raising over $120,000.00 USD.

Set Japan is an advertising company that creates designer QR codes. Set Japan designed the unique QR code above in response to the disaster in Japan.

Japan Band Aid is a projected started by Lighthouse NYC with Billboard Japan to raise awareness of the disaster and donations to the Japanese Red Cross.

Beatsforchange.org put out the “Sendai Selections” project, with music from the Stone Detectives.

The Youth Run for Japan was put together by the actor Josh Duhamel, with help from the Red Cross and tokidoki. Participants included Paris and Nicky Hilton as well as Fergie.

The “Love Japan – Help Japan” poster is on sale on Paul Vickers’s blog. Proceeds will go to The Red Cross and Save the Children.

Portland Dine Out was an event that did exactly what it sounds like – a local event put together by restaurants in Portland, Oregon, where 50 local eateries donated a portion of proceeds to Mercy Corps.

The Poster Cause Project is a project where underground artists create limited quantities of posters, with proceeds going to charities and relief efforts. This one was created by designer Adam Chang.

Popular Airsoft, a website all about airsoft (an activity used primarily for recreation where replica firearms shooting 6mm or 8mm plastic rounds – who knew?) was also in the Japan relief-effort swing of things.

Print for a t-shirt from Dissizit.
Japan Relief Eco Felt Red Heart Badge Button Pin is a handmade badge sold by lovahandmade on etsy for donations to the American Red Cross. The badge is even eco-friendly, since it’s made from 100% Recycled Eco Friendly Felt!

Lifestyle and apparel company Nada Brand released a fundraising campaign, including this poster by Ryan Sttely.

All the way from Australia – via Fringe Benefits we mostly chose this one because Okonomiyaki is delicious.

{Heart Japan} is a project started by Esther Julee, The Fu, Jennifer Chong, and DotDot Interactive to raise money for donations. The project launched two benefit events in Atlanta and Los Angeles this month, where they had auctions and live music.
